Strand 2 iMovie

Mahssa and I worked with iMovie for our multimedia project. We watched the tutorial for iMovie '09 a couple of times, and it looked really straight forward and easy to use. When we started to create our own movie on Mahssa's computer we had to use an older version of iMovie, which was a bit more complicated and didn't have all the nice features of the new one. However, it did essentially the same things and we were able to figure it out. We created a movie using footage from my digital camera and Mahssa's computer webcam, as well as still photos. It was really fun to make the movie and iMovie is definitely something I would use again.

iMovie has numerous potential classroom applications. In a language arts class, groups of students could act out a scene from a play or novel and videotape it to show to the whole class. A science teacher could take video in a lab or in an ecosystem that the students couldn't visit and then show it to the class. A teacher could videotape student presentations and post them on a class website so that students could rewatch them later, and parents could view them as well. There are many other ways that teachers could employ iMovie in the classroom to enhance student learning.

Enjoy!
