I am currently in the MAT program at Willamette University. I graduated from the University of Oregon Honors College in June 2009 with a BS in Environmental Science (not Studies, people get this wrong all the time). For my thesis I completed a habitat survey for western pond turtles in a Eugene park. Science is my passion, but I didn't want to end up with a desk job, and I think teaching science will be the best way to get the next generation excited about it. After this program, I will be endorsed to teach upper elementary grades and math and science in middle school.
In my spare time (yeah right) I enjoy backpacking, hiking, reading, playing the piano, winning soccer games with the ZPD's, snowboarding, and playing with my dogs. I also like spending time with my family - I have a younger brother and younger sister. I'm glad to be able to hang out with my sister more now that I'm back home from college. One of my new favorite pastimes is making ridiculous educational jokes with my Strand II pals.
